Oil-free vacuum pumps are available from FIPA as oil-free and operating fluid-free rotary vane vacuum pumps which use the displacer principle for vacuum generation.
This process involves a cylindrical rotor that rotates eccentrically in the circular pump cavity. The periodically enlarging and shrinking suction chamber sucks in air by way of the intake duct and subsequently ejects it into the environment through the outlet duct.
Dry-running vacuum pumps do not contaminate the vacuum with oil vapours and are, therefore, preferred in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor and food industries.
