Labor Day.
In Portugal, the holiday began to be celebrated as early as 1890. However, the celebrations ceased with the beginning of the Estado Novo regime. Later, May 1st was celebrated again in May 1974, 8 days after the Carnation Revolution.
On this date, not only are achievements in the field of workers' rights highlighted, but we also aim to raise awareness of the poor working conditions that still exist throughout the world. It is, therefore, a day for all those who defend a more just and supportive society.
