HN 100 linear motor axes

The latest in uncompromising, highly dynamic drive technology for your basic axis. Highly integrated and ready for installation. Compact and precise ball-type linear guides and an absolute measuring system are just as much a part of the concept as the automatic lubrication. The HN version is available in many different sizes – with a robust steel body or lightweight aluminium body. The aluminium profile-based HG axes can also be used in areas in which cost factors have typically made conventional drives the standard choice in the past: the most advanced linear technology at extremely attractive conditions. Both versions impress with their smooth movements and maximum dynamics.

Six linear motor axes in one servo cell
Dynamics, speed and stability in the smallest space

Challenge
The high-performance automatic units from OKU are used all over the world, including in the metal, plastics, electronics and automotive industries. The plant manufacturer needed a space-saving handling solution for a servo cell used for the assembly of special ball bearings. Due to the high demands regarding dynamics and precision, spindle drives and toothed belts proved inappropriate.

Solution
For the first time OKU employed user-programmable linear motor axes in combination with a TC rotary indexing table for the assembly of ball bearings. Extremely high dynamics and precision, a compact design and the ability to connect to third-party drives were the deciding factors. A total of six axes, a combination of HN 100 and HL 100, work together in a small space – featuring a maximum acceleration of 40 m/s2 and a maximum speed of 4 m/s.

CEE plug connection assembly: Linear transport system with matching handling components – supplied complete and ready for installation from WEISS.

Challenge
As a classic custom machine builder, the company Wilei from the Black Forest was looking to implement an assembly line for CEE plug connections. Alongside a short cycle time, the particular challenge here was handling the very large number of different versions. For reasons of space and with a view to potential expansion, a linear system had been specified from the outset for transportation of the units.

Solution
All components for transport and handling come from WEISS and were supplied as a complete, ready-for-installation system. The LS 280 linear system perfectly fulfils the stipulations in terms of cycle time and positioning accuracy for transporting the workpiece carriers. The gentle motion sequence is another plus point. The necessary handling is performed by a combination of freely programmable units, comprising two linear axes (HG25, HL 50), as well as one ST55 rotating unit. To save space, a total of three handling groups of this kind run on a single linear motor axis that measures one metre in length (HN 100). The perfectly matched overall composition ensures a high degree of flexibility and precision, as well as a low cycle time of 8.5 seconds.
